About Us

Matraville Vet Hospital aims to produce the best possible results at all times. We have an extensive range of services offered in house to give you test results and diagnoses as quickly as possible. Our surgeons are capable of performing complex orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

The Hospital has recently undergone renovation so as to provide you and your pet with top of the range Veterinary care.
We have a large team of caring and experienced vets and nurses who are part of the local pet loving community.

There is plentiful on site parking and long hours 7 days a week. We are open until 8pm on weekdays and 6pm Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.


Dr Chris Fernandez - Veterinarian

Dr Christine Fernandes has worked at Matraville Vet Hospital for 16 years and is a Sydney University graduate. After graduation Chris worked in rural areas and the United Kingdom for a short time before settling in Sydney. She is AQIS accredited and enjoys all aspects of vet practice. Her two sons and the two Staffordshire terriers keep Chris busy and in her spare time enjoys netball and yoga.

Dr Claire Petit - Veterinarian

Dr. Claire Petit hails from the UK but has been working for us here at Matraville for the last 4 years. After taking time off to have her son, she is enjoying being back at work and especially likes emergency work and  interacting with our lovely clients. Claire is also AQIS accredited.



Dr Karen Harkin - Veterinarian

Dr. Karen Harkin graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995. She has worked in small animal practices in Sydney and the United Kingdom since then. She has been working here at Matraville for over 10 years. Karen is an AQIS accredited vet who is most interested in small animal medicine. Karen has a Cavalier King Charles Spanial named Henry who faithfully accompanies her to work each day.

Dr Shane Nangle - Veterinarian

Dr Shane Nangle hails from Ireland where he graduated from University College Dublin in 2007. He has a special interest in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and he loves meeting and working with our native wildlife. Shane is AQIS accredited. He has a 15 year old English Springer Spaniel back in his native Ireland.
